Day 13 in the NICU

Today was another day of answered prayers and steady progress. Noah is starting to look like himself again as he is peeing like mad to rid his body of edema. While Momma was away making food for Baby Bear, Papa Bear changed Noah's diaper for the first time. We never thought we would be so thrilled for this event. The nurse commended the Papa on a job well done!

Noah's ventilator settings have steadily decreased. This means he is breathing more on his own. When Noah first switched over to this ventilator, the ventilator would breath for him 40 breaths per minute. Now the ventilator is only providing 26 breaths per minute while Noah does the rest of the work. They have also taken him down on his Nitric Oxide intake (which helps with lung expansion I think) from setting 20 to 10 and his oxygen dependence is down to 52%. His lung x-rays continue to look slightly better everyday, but there is still much scarring from his meconium aspiration at birth.
So please pray that:
1. Noah's lungs would continue to heal, specifically that his scarring would disappear
2. Noah would continue to make progress and that he would tolerate the changes the doctors make to his ventilator settings
3. Noah would remain calm and not need more sedation than he is already on (he tries to pull off the equipment sustaining his life, which is why they have to sedate him)
4. Mom, Dad, and Noah would continue to rely on God through this time

I mentioned this in my last note, but if you want to meet our little man, Papap Greer set up a website for a video he made of Noah. The video is super cute. The website is www.pray4noah.blogspot.com

Once again, we are ever grateful for your continued prayers. God is awesome!
