Day 9 in the NICU

Today was full of many blessings from Our Lord and Savior. Noah is continuing down the slow road to recovery. They were able to lower his dependence on the oscillator-ventilator settings to the point where they feel he may be able to tolerate a regular ventilator tomorrow. Noah was also able to tolerate his oxygen levels to be lowered from 90% to 74%. The nurse changes these settings by about 2% every hour so Noah doesn't notice the change as much as he would if they changed in big chunks.

Noah is also peeing off a lot of excess fluid from all the medications he is on due to another medication they have started him on. Noah is very swollen from all the medications he is on, so the more fluid he can get rid of the easier breathing will become for him.

If Noah continues to hold his statistics at the level they are at, then the nurses feel that the doctors may decide to change his oscillator-ventilator over to a regular ventilator. This would be a huge step forward for Noah. Also, the nurses feel that if he is able to get down to 50% on his oxygen support they would be able to start feeding him drips of my breast milk.

So here are the prayer requests for the night: Again, pray for progress. Pray that Noah would be able to tolerate switching over from the oscillator-vent. to a standard ventilator. Pray that he would continue to remain good vital statistics while they lower his level of dependence of oxygen support. Pray that he would be able to be given breast milk soon. Praise God that He has been answering all of your many, many prayers for Noah and pray that He would continue to use this prayer to heal our son.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
